Color

Color is a powerful communication tool that influences mood and causes psychological reaction.  While perceptions of color can be subjective, there is no denying that color makes an impact.  Red, Orange, and Yellow are known as warm colors.  In contrast, colors like Blue, Green, and Purple are described as calming.  Choosing the appropriate color(s) for your uniforms helps to drive home brand identity and set the stage for customer expectations and experiences.  Below are color associations to help in making the choice.

Red
Red demands attention and conveys power and passion.  It also provokes feelings of energy and excitement. On the flip side, Red can provoke anger and hostility.

Orange
If you are trying to get noticed, Orange is a color to consider. It’s vibrant and energetic, while being friendly and inviting. Orange provokes feelings of pleasure, energy, and enthusiasm.  Though, it can also be considered abrasive.

Yellow
Yellow is the brightest and most energizing of the color spectrum. It is happy, stimulating, and energy evoking. It represents caution, danger, and warning signs. It’s the most tiring color to the eye and in large doses can cause feelings of frustration and anger. Use yellow in small amounts to draw attention.

Green
Green conveys calm, balance, and rejuvenation.  It is the color most associated with nature, as well as money.

Blue
It’s considered calming, trusting, and clean.  Blue represents authority, primarily, because authority figures have worn the color over time and the association stuck.  In nature it is associated with water and sky.

Purple
Purple is associated with royalty and is typically represents wealth and luxury.  Purple can sometimes come off as being artificial or unnatural.  While it represents bravery in the United States, it is a color of mourning in many other countries.

Black
Black is versatile and classic, representing power and mystery. Its best attributes are its slimming quality and ability to conceal dirt and stains while maintaining a polished look.

White
A color that is often associated with innocence and purity.  White is perfect for those wanting to demonstrate cleanliness.

Brown
Brown has an earthy quality that provokes a sense of comfort, strength, and reliability. Depending on the shade, it can range from regal to blending in.
